DOH Duque Considers Tapping Med Graduates To Help Fight COVID-19

DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III Interested in Tapping Medical Graduates

DOH – The Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III said he would consider tapping medical graduates to help the country fight against the deadly virus.

The Philippine government has taken drastic measures to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. Authorities said 75,000 people could get infected in the coming months if the public won’t obey the order of their community leaders.

The symptoms of the virus from China include couching, fever, shortness of breath and sore throat. It can spread from person to person but it can be prevented through appropriate personal hygiene.

Following a previous article, Senator Francis Tolentino plans to rush the 1,500 medical graduates into service to help the government fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The politician made the proposal after the Department of Health requested for more volunteer doctors and nurses.

Tolentino said it was already done in Italy where 10,000 medical graduates skipped the final exam to help the struggling health service in their country. He also wanted the licensure exams of the 1,500 fresh graduates in the country waived so they can help in the fight against COVID-19.

“Pinayagan na silang maging ganap na mga doktor para agad silang makatulong sa COVID-19 health crisis nila duon,” he said.
