Massive Coronavirus Prayer Session in Bangladesh Goes Viral
BANGLADESH PRAYER GATHERING – The massive coronavirus prayer session gathering thousands of people in Bangladesh sparked an outcry.
Local police chief Tota Miah reported that around 10,000 Muslims have gathered in Raipur town in southern Bangladesh to conduct a prayer session against the coronavirus disease. The devotees pray ‘healing verses’ from the Koran.
Miah said that the organizers did not get permission from the authorities to conduct a prayer session gathering thousands of people. The organizers claimed that they have gathered around 25,000 worshippers.
The photos of the massive Bangladesh coronavirus prayer gathering immediately spread like a wildfire online after it was posted on social media. Unfortunately, some netizens criticized the gathering amid the coronavirus outbreak.
“Unbelievable how they even have done it without notifying the police? They will be held responsible if anything happens to the people in the region,” Abdur Rahman commented.
The Bangladesh authorities have already suspended the classes and urged the residents to avoid gathering to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. The officials also advised the residents to avoid crowded places.
Awami League senior leader Obaidul Quader said that a lockdown might be required to prevent the spread of the disease. “If necessary, Bangladesh will be shut down. It’ll be enforced where necessary. People must be saved first. We’ll do everything for that,” Quader said.
