Cainta community quarantine announced on Friday.
CAINTA COMMUNITY QUARANTINE – Cainta Mayor Johnielle Keith Nieto announces entire town under quarantine due to coronavirus cases.
With the fear brought about by the pandemic Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-2019), the Metro Manila is now under “lockdown” where the over 12 million people living there would not be allowed to travel in and out by land, local air travel, and local sea travel from midnight of March 15 until April 14. This is according to President Rodrigo Duterte as he addressed the nation’s dilemma regarding the novel coronavirus.
Thus, pursuant to this declaration, Cainta Mayor Johnielle Keith Nieto, through a Facebook post, also announced of placing the entire town of Cainta under quarantine. This is after there had been recorded three confirmed cases and two coronavirus-related deaths.
Two of the cases were from Barangay San Isidro and Barangay San Andres, both in Cainta lying in close proximity to Metro Manila. Moreover, the fourth case was from Calabarzon region (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon).
The announcement said, “The implementation however shall coincide with the effectivity of Resolution No. 11 series of 2020 issued by the inter agency task force for the management of emerging infectious diseases.”
Meanwhile, in last night’s pronouncement of the President regarding the concerns about growth of cases and deaths related to the virus, retail stores, factories, and service establishments in Metro Manila amid the lockdown were advised to remain open but implement “strict social distancing measures”.
The virus which initially hit Wuhan has already killed over 4,000 persons and infected over 110,000 others worldwide which ultimately prompted World Health Organization to declare it as a global pandemic.
