Manila Gov’t Distributes 500,000 Face Masks to Public School Students
Manila gov’t distributes 500,000 face masks to public school students, Mayor Isko Moreno also warns entrepreneurs against profiteering.
The Manila City government announced that it will distribute 500,00 face masks for students of all levels in public schools. This was followed by confirmation of the first case of the novel coronavirus infection in the country currently being treated in an isolation room at San Lazaro Hospital in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Recently, Mayor Isko Moreno said that before confirming the country’s first novel coronavirus case, they would distribute face masks to the residents of 896 barangays in Manila.
On Thursday, the evening of January 30, about 150 employees of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau repacked thousands of face masks in the Katipunan Hall in the Office of the Mayor. These will be distributed to students in public schools. Regarding to this, Mayor Isko warned businesses not to overprice the sale of face masks amidst the nCoV scare.
“If you
continue doing that, we will make you criminally
liable. We guarantee that we will monitor and if we found anybody or anyone, we
will make them, one: cancel their business permit; and two, we will go after
you, and we will file cases against you,” Isko warns.
He also reminded the public to always wash hands with a disinfectant, keep the immune system strong by drinking plenty of water, drinking vitamins and avoiding going out of the house especially when sick.
