The group have sung and recorded an English version of the official World Youth Day (WYD) anthem. The organizers of the world’s largest gathering of Catholics were impressed with the Ooberfuse’s song “Go”, inspired by Bible verse Matthew 28:19.
The official song of the 2013 World Youth Day is a Portuguese language music titled “Esperanca do Amanhecer.” The Ooberfuse translated the song with the title “Hope of the Dawn.” The World Youth Day 2013 will run from July 23-28, 2013 in Brazil with the theme, “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).
The popular trio Ooberfuse were composed of Cherrie Anderson as vocalist, Hal St. John and guitarist Nico Cox. Ooberfuse previously sang the youth anthem for Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to the UK in 2010, and performed to 2 million pilgrims at the 2011 WYD in Madrid.
