More and more kids are idolizing social media personalities after extended exposure to the video-sharing platform YouTube. Popular icons from the platform inspired so much that the kids now prefer being a YouTuber/vlogger over being an astronaut.

Check out how the netizens reacted to this new viral video from a Youtube channel that shares Kids’ videos.

Back in the days, when the first ever flight to space was successful, millions of kids wanted to follow.

The first time a rocket – Saturn V from the Kennedy Space Center – took off with astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins was 50 years ago.

After the successful launch, the first even men to land on the moon inspired millions of kids to become astronauts and go to space.

It then became their most preferred career destination when they grow up.

However, in the recent poll, taken as we celebrate the anniversary of the Apollo 11, a shift in kid’s preferences was revealed.

Toy company LEGO asked The Harris Poll to conduct a survey with 3000 children from the United States, United Kingdom and China.

They were supposed to be asked about their knowledge about the cosmos or the space.

The poll’s results came back with a huge revelation. For Western countries, kids now prefer pursuing careers as YouTubers rather than become astronauts and go to space.

In China, however, most kids still preferred becoming an astronaut clearly over becoming a YouTuber.

This is according to an article from Ars Technica.

The reason for the shift of kids’ preferences in the Western countries have not yet been unveiled.

That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
