Police Officers Nabbed 10 Vote-Buyers In Bacoor, Cavite On Saturday Night
POLICE OFFICERS – The police officers arrested 10 vote-buyers in Bacoor, Cavite on Saturday night.
Vote buying has been a traditional sense in the Philippines. Such doings is a very corrupt election practice.
The crime is a threat to conduct a fair election. The Omnibus Election Code is a law that prohibits candidates and voters to commit this illegal act.
The election candidate will never initiate the vote-buying himself. Purok leaders or their trusted person will either summon or go to the houses of the voters to distribute the goods, money or services.
Voting wisely for this coming midterm election is so relevant for the future of the country. This is our chance to make our voice be heard and place the right politician in the government.
Meanwhile, there is a vote-buying incident that happened in Bacoor town last Saturday night.
Based on a report from Manila Bulletin, 10 persons were arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) for allegedly distributing P200 bills to encourage them to vote for Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla and Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla.
The names of the personalities who were arrested are Jowel Sale, Joselino Villa, Michael Omedes, Gregorio Tamio, Jose de Leon, Rex del Rosario, Jayson Alab, Elsie Alano, Irene Morales, and Teresita Marjes.
According to the report, five of those arrested personalities were allegedly working at the City Hall. However, the police refused to confirm this allegation.
Police Colonel Lawrence said the authorities nabbed the 10 suspects after a concerned citizen caught them allegedly dispensing small brown envelopes to the people residing at Barangay Zapote 5, Bacoor around 6 pm.
The CIDG seized from the suspects a bundle of small brown envelopes containing P200 bill total amount of P75,800, cash worth P83,500, and election paraphernalia.
Based on the report, Jonvic Remulla denied his involvement in the vote-buying. The politician took to the social media to explain the incident ant Zapote 5, Bacoor City.
