Comelec Just Started Deploying Ballots To Their Areas For May Elections
COMELEC – Ballots for the elections on May 13 have been printed and are now being deployed to their specified areas, Comelec confirms.
2019 midterm election is right around the corner. Since the election day comes closer, here are a few information for reference when you’re planning to vote.
Teopisto Elnas Jr, COMELEC director, also deputy project director of the May elections, announced earlier today (April 26, 2019) that COMELEC just got finished printing the ballots for the midterm polls.
The ballots are also now being organized in batches to be sent to their specific designated locations. However, the ballots are sent first to prioritized areas.
This is according to an article from Inquirer. Based on the article,
Elnas stated that today is already the third day of the dispatch and he also mentioned the prioritized areas in his statement:
“Nasa third day na tayo ng dispatch. Yung mga priority areas natin ay sa ARMM, sa Sulu, Basilan, Tawi-tawi and of course dito sa Batanes area.”
“We are currently on the third day of dispatch…”
“The priority areas are:
- ARMM,
- Sulu,
- Basilan,
- Tawi-tawi and,
- Batanes.”
He also stated that the dispatching of the ballots will continue and end in May 4.
Also, as part of the procedure, all the ballots undergo verification and validation processes before it proceeds to packaging and dispatch.
Elnas also revealed that there are only 6 million ballots, as of today (April 26, 2019), that are under verification out of 63 million ballots.
The COMELEC expects huge crowds of voters in May 13 elections. There are currently 61 million registered voters in the Philippines.
To avoid the hassle of standing in queues for a long time, Elnas recommended that voters should vote earlier.
Official voting schedule will start at 6am and will end at 6pm during the elections.
That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
Vote Wisely.
