Tropical Depression Amang Near Caraga, Signal No. 1 Still Up In 13 Areas

AMANG – Tropical Depression Amang slighty accelerated and currently moving towards Caraga, PAGASA recently said on Sunday (January 20).

According to PhilStar, the tropical depression is sighted at estimately 165 kilometers east-northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 280 km east-southeast of Surigao City, Surigao, according to PAGASA in their weather bulletin at 11AM yesterday.

Tropical Depression Amang has maximum sustained winds of 45 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph; and is expected to continue west-northwest at 30 kph.

Thus, the following 13 areas are currently raised on Signal No. 1:

  • Eastern Samar;
  • Samar;
  • Biliran;
  • Leyte;
  • Southern Leyte;
  • Eastern Bohol;
  • Northern Cebu;
  • Agusan del Sur;
  • Agusan del Norte;
  • Surigao del Sur;
  • Surigao del Norte;
  • Dinagat Islands; and
  • Camiguin

As per the report, PAGASA urged the fishermen and those with small sea crafts not to go over the seaboards under Signal No. 1, especially the northern seaboard of northern Luzon; and the eastern seaboards of Luvismin (Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao) due to the tropical depression approaching near and the northern monsoon surge.

PAGASA further said that the tropical depression was expected to make a landfall in Surigao del Norte yesterday between afternoon and evening.

PAGASA also added that moderate to heavy rains would occur over the following areas:

  • Caraga;
  • Northern Mindanao;
  • Compostela Valley;
  • Davao Oriental;
  • Eastern Visayas;
  • Central Visayas;
  • Bicol;
  • Southern Quezon;
  • Marinduque; and
  • Romblon

Visayas, Bicol, Southern Quezon, Marinduque and Romblon will continue to experience rains on Monday (January 21).

On the other hand, areas like Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Masbate, Eastern Visayas, and Central Visayas will continue to experience moderate to heavy rains on Tuesday.
