Complainant Urges Comelec To Disqualify Cayetano Couple In 2019 Elections
A complainant filed a petition asking the Comelec to disqualify Alan Peter Cayetano and Lani Cayetano for 2019 elections.
A Taguig City resident named Leonides Buac Jr. filed a complaint against the Cayetano couple who are both running for positions at the House of Representatives.
Former Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano has filed his certificate of candidacy for representative of the first district of Taguig-Pateros.
Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano is also running for the 2019 midterm elections in the second district in Congress.
Alan Peter declared in his COC that he is a resident of Barangay Bagumbayan while his wife Lani declared that she was a resident of Barangay Fort Bonifacio indicating they are living in separate homes.
The Taguig voter complained that a married couple could only keep one legal residence at any time as written in Section 6, Article VI of the 1987 Constitution.
The couple explained that they are simply pursuing public service because of their constituents and expressed their willingness to address the cases filed by Buac.
