Jacqueline Comes Home film faces accusations.
CHIONG SISTERS – The Jacqueline Comes Home movie about the devastating case of Chiong Sisters faces negative comments because it was allegedly biased.
The Chiong sisters, Marijoy and Jacqueline, were kidnapped, gang-raped, and murdered and reported missing on July 16 of 1997.
And 21 years after the brutal case of the sisters, the film “Jacqueline Comes Home” premieres on cinema July 18, 2018. The movie is about 21-year old Jacqueline and 23-year old Marijoy Chiong who disappeared on July 16, 1997.
Two days after then, a body which is reportedly raped and murdered thrown at the bottom of a ravine was found and identified as Marijoy whereas Jacqueline remains missing as of this date.
The movie is directed by the 25-year old Ysabelle Peach Caparas, daughter of Carlo J. Caparas. Carlo Caparas, based on a report from SunStar Cebu, was the first to approach Thelma, mother of the sisters, to make the film asking for her permission which she declined as she feared that the pain of losing her two daughters would just relive.
“Many netizens who support the notion that there was a mistrial were born before [sic] the Chiong case started, or were too young. I am saddened by this because it not only opens wounds on my part, but also on my family who has suffered so much since this case started,” Chiong told SunStar Cebu.
But now that the film Jacqueline Comes Home premiered July 18, they are hoping that this would shed some light to the mysterious and brutal case of the Chiong sisters.
With all the accusations being thrown at the movie for being biased, stars Donnalyn Bartolome who will play Marijoy clarified and defended the film.
