CTA Dismisses Tax Evasion Case Against Jeane Napoles, Janet Napoles’ Daughter
The Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) has dismissed the tax evasion case against Jeane Napoles, the daughter pork barrel queen Janet Lim Napoles.
Last week, CTA has junked the two criminal cases against Jeane Napoles after the prosecutors failed to prove the lapses income tax to create reasonable doubt.
The younger Napoles was being accused of failing to file her tax returns and pay taxes amounting P17 million between 2011 and 2012 ₱54.73 million upscale Ritz Carlton condominium unit in Los Angeles, California and a farm in Bayambang, Pangasinan.
“The Court finds that the evidence presented is not sufficient to sustain a conviction of accused since the prosecution failed to discharge the burden to prove all the essential elements of the crimes attributed to accused,” state in the decision quoted by CNN Philippines.
The resolution concurred by Ma. Belen Ringpi-Liban and Associate Justices Esperanza Fabon-Victorino were signed by CTA Associate Justice Lovell Bautista.
Jeane Napoles has been the headlines of the local news outlets and in different social media pages way back in 2013 for posting her luxurious lifestyle abroad such as owning a couple of Porsches, owning an expensive real estate, and no-spending-limit shopping habits.
The parents of Jeane were charged with tax evasion with Janet Lim-Napoles of P44.7 million and husband Jaime of P16.43 million.
