Former President Benigno Aquino III In Anti-Dengue Vaccine Investigation
Former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will be included in anti-dengue vaccine investigation to be conducted by NBI.
Over the past few days, the anti-dengue vaccine “Dengvaxia” administered to more than 700, 000 Filipino children has been the headlines of the local news outlets and countless social media pages.
The anti-dengue vaccine could cause severe diseases for those people who did not have prior dengue infection, according to Sanofi.
Recently, President Rodrigo Duterte said that he fears no one just to find out who’s liable for the irregularities of the Dengvaxia vaccine after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) started their investigation.
Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said that even former President Noynoy Aquino and former Health secretary Janet Garin were included in the NBI’s investigation regarding the Sanofi’s anti-dengue vaccine.
“We are not taking the Dengvaxia issue sitting down. Full force of the law to be applied if there are irregularities in the purchase of Dengvaxia vaccine,” Roque said quoted by Philstar.
Meanwhile, Health Sec. Francisco Duque III has requested Sanofi Pasteur, the manufacturer of Dengvaxia vaccine to return the P3 billion paid by the Philippine government for the P3.5 billion worth of dengue drugs.
About 733, 000 Filipino children aging 9-year-old and above from public schools in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon have received the vaccine.
