Tropical Depression Maring Intensifies, Heading Toward Quezon-Aurora Area
The state weather bureau PAGASA said that the tropical depression Maring has slightly intensified and now moving toward Quezon-Aurora area.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released a data showing that the tropical depression “Maring” has slightly intensified with packing wind of up to 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph.
PAGASA also announced on its bulletin as of 4:00 am the center of “Maring” was located at 80 km North of Daet, Camarines Norte. The tropical depression was moving 11kph west-northwest and expected to hit Quezon-Aurora area on Tuesday afternoon (September 12, 2017).
Signal No. 1 has been raised in different areas including:
- Metro Manila
- Catanduanes
- Camarines Norte
- Camarines Sur
- Northern Quezon including Polillo Island
- Rizal
- Bulacan
- Pampanga
- Quirino
- Nueva Ecija
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Benguet
- La Union
- Tarlac
- Zambales
- Bataan
- Pangasinan
- Laguna
- Quirino
- Aurora
The weather bureau also said a 1.25 to 4-meter wave that could cause significant damage to rice crops. Moderate to heavy rain is also expected in Bicol region, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Pangasinan.
The residents of the affected area were also advised to be prepared for possible flashfloods and landslide.
PAGASA also said that tropical depression Maring and typhoon Lanie will not directly affect the country and expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday (September 14, 2017).
