Atienza Says Imelda Marcos Told Him That They Owned About 7, 000 Tons Of Gold Bars
BUHAY party-list Representative Lito Atienza revealed that Imelda Marcos once told him that they have 7, 000 tons of gold bars.
On Wednesday (August 30, 2017), the former mayor of Manila revealed that the first lady once told him that they were owning thousands of tons of gold bars and disclosed President Duterte’s statement that the Marcoses is willing to return part of their alleged ill-gotten wealth.
Imelda told Atienza that she wanted to bring back the gold bars in the Philippines and donate it to the government, which was supposed to use as payment for all the debts of the country.
The lawmaker also said that the first lady told him that a superpower was hindering her to transport the gold bars, which were deposited in various places all around the world.
Atienza also said that 7, 000 tons of gold bars could be a big help for the country’s economy and urges the Filipino people not to dwell on the issue anymore instead they should focus on how to retrieve the alleged ill-gotten wealth of the Marcoses.
On Tuesday (August 29, 2017), President Rodrigo Duterte explained that the family of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos expressed their willingness to open everything and return all the wealth that can be found.
“Sabi nila, isauli nila para walang ano—and the only reason, sabi nila, was the father was just protecting the economy for the [eventuality] na umalis siya. He thought of regaining the Malacañang, that is why ganito ang lumabas na parang naitago,” said by Duterte quoted by GMA.
