Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ SONA Announcement
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President revealed that she had two (2) requests to Pres. Bongbong Marcos when she agreed to be his running mate in the 2022 Elections.
Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. delivered his 5th State of the Nation Address or SONA on Monday, July 27. Several senators including his very own sister, Sen. Imee Marcos, skipped the national event.
Sen. Imee Marcos and Pres. Bongbong Marcos are visibly disconnected after the former aligned herself with the Duterte family. There is a huge gap between the President and the Duterte family following the arrest and the transfer of the custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The elder Duterte was arrested under the watch of the Marcos Jr. administration. According to Sen. Imee Marcos, it is unacceptable. She led the investigation on the said controversial arrest. On the same day, Duterte was flown en route to The Hague, Netherlands which he remains detained for a year now.
Sen. Imee Marcos immediately left the senatorial slate of the Marcos Jr. administration. Later on, she was campaigning with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The Vice President is vocal that her friend is Senator Imee she did not start with friendship in her ties with PBBM.
For several times, the Senator has apologized to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte for convincing her to run with her brother in the 2022 Elections. The Vice President claimed that she was allegedly fooled on the platform of unity.
In his 5th SONA, Pres. Bongbong Marcos mentioned that piles of charges allegedly await former House Speaker Martin Romualdez over the supposed flood control corruption. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who is now in The Hague, Netherlands reacted to the statement of the President.
“‘Di ba ‘yan din ‘yung sinabi niya last year bago mag December may makukulong na. So meron bang nakulong bago mag Christmas? Wala. So huwag niyo na i-expect na makulang niyang dating Speaker o mga members ng House of Representatives,” Duterte said based on PhilStar.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, she had two (2) requests to Pres. Bongbong Marcos when she agreed to be his running mate in the 2022 Elections. During the interview, the Vice President did not reveal her requests but hinted that one was personal and it was related to her being a mother to her young kids then.
“Balik na lang tayo sa bente Pesos ang bigas, ‘di ba? Balik tayo sa akin. Sa akin na lang. Dalawa lang hiningi ko, eh, nung pumayag ako na tumakbo ka-tandem niya bilang kanyang vice president. ‘Yung isa dun buwan pa lang hindi na niya sinunod. Wala pang one year. Isa lang ‘yun. Related lang ‘yun sa pakiusap ko sa kanya sa kailangan kung gawin gabi-gabi para sa aking mga anak kasi bata pa ‘yung mga anak ko… Hindi niya tinupad. Sige, sabihin na natin personal ‘yan, eh. Pwede naman hindi tuparin. Okay, fine. Doon tayo sa bente ang bigas,” the Vice President said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has skipped the SONA of PBBM three (3) times now. Known Duterte ally Sen. Robin Padilla recently explained himself amid the criticisms for his absence in the Marcos Jr. SONA 2026.
