Authorities Arrest 2 Men Wanted for Liquor Theft During Operation
Two men wanted for a robbery case involving stolen liquor in Quezon province were arrested by police in Quezon City during an operation.
The suspects, aged 22 and 26, were apprehended along Balete Street in Barangay Commonwealth after authorities received information about their whereabouts. According to investigators, the two had been hiding in the area while trying to avoid arrest for a robbery case filed against them in Sariaya, Quezon.
Police said the operation was launched after a trusted informant tipped off officers that the suspects were staying within the jurisdiction of the Batasan Police Station. Authorities first located and arrested one of the suspects.
During questioning, he led officers to the location of his alleged accomplice, who was later taken into custody as well.
The case stemmed from an incident that took place in February 2026. Investigators said the suspects allegedly stole liquor products worth around P45,000 from a delivery truck. The driver and his helper were reportedly asleep when the theft happened, giving the group an opportunity to carry out the crime without being noticed immediately.
Further investigation revealed that the two suspects were allegedly linked to other criminal activities. Police records showed that they had previous robbery cases and were also reportedly connected to illegal drug-related incidents.
Authorities are also looking into their possible involvement in a similar crime in Tarlac. In that case, a sleeping truck driver and his helper were allegedly victimized, with batteries and fuel stolen from their vehicle.
Police said the two men were part of a five-member group believed to be responsible for the robbery. Before the latest operation, the three other members had already been arrested, leaving only the two suspects still at large.
All five members of the group are now in police custody. The suspects are currently being held at the custodial facility of the Batasan Police Station while legal proceedings continue.
