Cristine Reyes opened up about her struggles in her life behind the camera
Actress Cristine Reyes shared how her past marriage affected her work and her personal life.
In a recent interview on the podcast of actress Isabelle Daza, Cristine shared the past issues she faced regarding her ex-husband, Ali Khatibi.
Cristine admitted that her past marriage deeply affected her while taping the TV series Tubig at Langis, based on the article GMA Entertainment. The actress had just given birth to her daughter, Amarah, at that time. With that, it was inevitable that she was extra emotional.

She would show a happy appearance on her social media pages, but this was far from what was happening in real life.
“That time na pinagtatakpan ko pa eh, na hindi kami okay pero nagpo-post ako na parang happy family pero ‘yung totoo hindi siya talaga umuuwi sa bahay,” the actress shared.
Cristine Reyes also revealed that her ex-husband would go to the casino, and he was accompanied by girls. “Parang tini-table. Kasi meron daw mga clients daw, mga Koreans. Nilabas ko talaga sa kanya, sorry,” the actress shared.
She chose to hide this part of her life from the public because of the outside pressure “Hindi ko ito in-open sa lahat kasi at that time sinasabihan ako na hindi ko dapat kinikwento ‘yun pero ngayon, kailangan ko siya ilabas,” she admitted.
While this situation continued, the actress had reached her breaking point. The moment came when she was pushed to reevaluate everything.
Then, she mentioned the “worst” that she experienced, and that was her ex-husband forgetting their wedding anniversary. Cristine shared that she prayed for a sign before making any decision.
Her ex-husband’s lack of effort strengthened her decision to end the relationship.

“Naisip ko siguro noong nag-pray ako na kung sa wedding anniversary namin wala siyang ginawa, flowers man lang or anything, dinner… Nakipaghiwalay ako sa kanya, sabi ko, ‘Tanungin mo sa sarili mo, for five years na magkasama tayo, did you ever ask me out on a date?’” she said.
Cristine Reyes revealed that there were times when her ex-husband forced her, and it was not just once. She was struggling internally, but her facade showed her strong personality.
While looking back, the actress acknowledged that somehow she was at fault for allowing the bad things to happen.
“Fault ko rin naman kasi hinayaan ko ‘yun. Wala siyang masagot. Nagpakasal ako kasi natatakot ako sa society na huhusgahan nila ako,” the actress admitted.
