Amid the High Pump Prices in PH, Marcos Jr. Announces Big Rollback in Fuel Costs
MARCOS JR. – The Philippine President admitted that the upcoming big rollback in the fuel prices is “not enough”.
The war in the Middle East has affected the costs of oil in the Philippines being a country that is highly dependent on oil import. The series of oil price hikes in the country brought the price of diesel to P170 per liter.

Jeepney drivers and delivery riders already called on the government for long-term solutions amid the situation. The government released fuel subsidies to the drivers but suspended the fair hike.
According to Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., now is not the time for fare to be increased. He stressed that the government is trying to balance its help between the members of the transport sector and the commuters.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos ordered the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to talk to Iran for oil passage in the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran imposed restrictions that banned the vessels linked to their enemies from passing the waterway after U.S. and Israel attacked Iran.
Iran agreed to let the oil tankers bound for Manila pass by the Strait of Hormuz safely. However, according to the Department of Energy, the Hormuz pass will not immediately relieve the Filipinos from huge oil costs in the country.

Recently, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that there will be a huge rollback in the fuel prices on Tuesday, April 14. Through a video message posted on social media, the Chief Executive cited the drop in the prices of diesel, gasoline, and kerosene.
“Simula Martes, April 14, may malaking rollback sa presyo ng langis. Mahigit P20 ang ibababa sa diesel. Ang gasolina naman, may bawas na P4.43 kada litro. At sa kerosene, P8.50 kada litro ang ibababa,” the President said.

Marcos Jr. stressed that it will be a big help for the drivers, the commuters, and every Filipino family who is affected daily by the high costs of fuel. Meanwhile, in his video message, the President admitted that it is not enough.
“Hindi pa ito sapat. Kaya tuloy-tuloy ang ginagawa ng pamahalaan para maibsan ang epekto nito sa inyong pang-araw-araw na buhay. Hindi po tayo titigil hangga’t hindi natin napapababa ang gastos sa biyahe, sa pagkain, at sa kabuuang pamumuhay ng ating mga kababayan,” he expressed.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke on lowering oil prices in the Philippines.
