Cynthia Villar Denies Land-Grabbing Accusation

Cynthia Villar released a statement amid recent accusations against her

Former Senator Cynthia Villar strongly denied the land-grabbing allegations involving a property in Bacoor, Cavite, specifically addressing claims made by the Alonzo family.

In a statement issued on March 22, 2026, Villar has clarified that she is not seizing a property in Bacoor, Cavite, that she reportedly purchased, even though the residents of the area have title.

This was prompted by the report from Bilyonaryo News Channel’s “Agenda” program about Villar’s alleged acquisition of a 2.5-hectare land in Barangay Molino 6, in the middle of a residential area.

It was reported that the alleged land grabbing began in 2023, and residents’ properties are said to have been gradually destroyed.

In the statement, Cynthia Villar insisted that as a former lawmaker, she is prohibited from engaging in any business, contract, or transaction while in office, based on the report from Abante News.

She also noted that the said property, known as Moonwalk Property, has been owned by Moonwalk Development and Housing Corp. for more than 38 years until 2022. Even before the passage of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) Law in 1988, the land was allegedly reclassified as non-agricultural.

The former Senator also stressed that the case regarding the applicability of CARP and the company’s petition to vacate the Notice of Coverage reached the Office of the President. On July 7, 2021, she said that the office affirmed the decision of the DAR Central Office in favor of Moonwalk Development and Housing Corp.

On June 3, 2022, the former Senator said that the property was transferred to Fine Properties, Inc. through a Memorandum of Agreement.

Her camp also encouraged the public to be careful about what is being brought up and not just believe everything immediately.

“We urge the public to remain discerning and not be swayed by incomplete reporting. Former Senator Cynthia Villar stands firm in her commitment to truth, accountability, and fairness. We will also PURSUE APPROPRIATE LEGAL ACTION against those who continue to proliferate FALSE INFORMATION,” the statement stressed.
