Truck Driver to Face Frustrated Homicide Case After He Fought Back Against Robber

A truck driver is now under police custody after fighting back against a man who allegedly tried to rob him in Binondo, Manila. 

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the driver was inside his truck when a man, said to be armed with a bladed weapon, attempted to climb into the vehicle. The suspect reportedly tried to carry out a robbery, putting the driver in a dangerous situation. 

Fearing for his safety, the driver fought back. Authorities said he grabbed a bolo that was inside his truck and used it to defend himself. During the struggle, the alleged robber sustained wounds to his head and arm.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. Police officers have been assigned to guard him and will place him under arrest once he is discharged. 

After the incident, the truck driver voluntarily surrendered to the authorities as the police began their investigation. He explained that he only acted in self-defense after the man tried to rob him. Despite this, he remains in police custody while the case is being reviewed. 

Investigators are now looking closely at the circumstances surrounding the incident. The driver may face a complaintĀ forĀ frustrated homicide, depending on the findings of the investigation.
