Dingdong Dantes made a clarification about this fake statement
Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes belied having this statement about Vice President Sara Duterte’s political plan.
Dingdong is known to be one of the celebrity supporters of the political camp of former Vice President Leni Robredo. Back in 2014, the actor was appointed as the Commissioner of the National Youth Commission, under the administration of the late former President Benigno Aquino III.
In recent years, even though Dingdong is more focused on his career in the entertainment industry, he is still aware and vocal about his social and political views.
Just recently, a statement that was allegedly stated by Dingdong Dantes, circulated on social media, based on the article in Bandera.
This was the supposed statement that circulated online: “Dingdong Dantes said, ‘Nakakatakot ‘pag nanalo si VP Sara. Nakikita ko sa kaniya ang tapang, talino, at abilidad na may kakayahang mamuno gaya ng kaniyang ama.'”
The Kapuso actor immediately debunked the false statement. He shared the fake statement with the caption: “Hindi ko ito sinabi.”
Many netizens expressed disappointment because of the rampant spread of fake news on social media, and they were saddened that there were still people who believed this kind of fabrication without checking if the netizen’s post was credible or not.
This came after the announcement of VP Sara Duterte that she will run for president in the 2028 elections. She held a media conference for this, two years before the presidential election. Even though this elated her supporters, for some people, this was too early, and some even attacked her for thinking about her political plans amid the current situation of the country.
Following his clarification, Dingdong shared on his Facebook Page that the netizen apologized and he accepted it. He said that this should serve as an encouragement to the public to be more vigilant of what they see online, and stressed that respect should always be there.
