Mark Bautista talked about his friendship with Christian Bautista
Singer-actor Mark Bautista has friends who stayed with him even after he came out, and one of them was Kapuso singer-host Christian Bautista.
Mark and Christian both started their career in music through televised singing competitions. In 2002, Mark was hailed as the third runner-up in the singing competition Star For A Night. At that time, Sarah Geronimo was the one who won.
Christian was one of the finalists of Star In A Million, and he ended the competition as a fourth placer; Erik Santos won. Even though Mark and Christian did not win, they were given big opportunities in the music industry.
They had the chance to work with each other in various shows, and friendship bloomed. Years after, they remained friends, and Christian Bautista was among those who remained even after Mark Bautista came out as bis*xual in 2018.
In a recent interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Mark expressed appreciation for the friendship he has with Christian.
“I read it in the paper, and I said, ‘Hey, I’m your friend no matter what and I’m here for you,’” Christian said, adding that his wife, Kat Ramnani, is closer now to Mark, compared to his closeness with his fellow singer.
Mark shared that instead of leaving or giving distance between them, Christian remained as his friend, and he liked it about the Asia’s Romantic Balladeer.
“I think ‘yan ‘yung what I like about Christian, Tito Boy, kasi when things were parang uncomfortable, parang hindi siya ‘yung parang dumistansya or hindi siya parang napi-feel mo na nawala or something. Support was there,” Mark shared with the King of Talk.
Mark also shared that he and Christian would have their bonding moments, and sometimes Kat would join them. They would play pickleball and just bond in whatever activities they do.
Talking about the memoir he released titled Beyond the Mark, detailing what he went through after coming out, he shared that he finished it while he was in the US.
Mark shared that it was his idea, and he asked Viva and Boss Vic del Rosario to help him release it
“Kasi parang feeling ko ang story ko, my journey was inspiring,’” he shared. The singer also said that he doesn’t have any regrets about coming out through the book he released. “I’m actually very, very happy now,” Mark Bautista said.
