Mark Bautista rallied behind Sarah Geronimo in this issue
Kapuso singer Mark Bautista defended Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo against her bashers who criticized her version of the song Good Luck Babe.
Mark and Sarah both joined the Star For A Night singing competition. Sarah won this contest while Mark was third runner-up. After the competition, both of them pursued their singing careers and also had some acting stints.
Eventually, Mark decided to sign a contract with GMA and he is currently part of the Kapuso Sunday musical variety show All-Out Sundays.
Just recently, Sarah Geronimo caught the attention of many netizens, especially those who did not like her rendition of Chappell Roan’s song Good Luck Babe.
Instead of the line ‘You can kiss a hundred boys in bars,” since it is a song with an LGBT theme, Sarah’s version used “You can kiss a hundred girls in bars.” This did not sit well with some netizens and they said that the song’s essence was taken away. However, Sarah was defended by other netizens who said that the issue was so trivial to be receiving that kind of attention.
Mark also defended the Popstar Royalty. In a post on X, formerly called Twitter, criticizing Sarah for her revised lyrics, Mark wrote a reply to defend his fellow singer, based on the article in Inquirer.
The male singer stressed that there was nothing wrong with Sarah’s version. He also explained that singers would really change certain parts of the song to fit their authentic self and what they believe.
“Nothing wrong with this. Most singers do this to feel authentic when they do their own version. It has to align with their truth. It’s not to undermine the composer or the original message of the song,” Mark Bautista stressed.
