From Love Team to Silence? Kris Bernal Opens Up About Aljur Abrenica
KRIS BERNAL – Actress Kris Bernal has finally addressed the lingering silence between her and former love team partner Aljur Abrenica, shedding light on why their communication remains strained years later.
Kris Bernal recently opened up about the status of her relationship with former onscreen partner Aljur Abrenica, admitting that the two are still not on speaking terms despite her efforts to reconnect. The actress shared her thoughts during an ambush interview held on the sidelines of her new drama series, “House of Lies.”
According to Kris, there is no existing conflict between them, but communication has remained one-sided. “Wala na. Hindi naman kami magkagalit pero I tried reaching out to him pero hindi ko alam bakit hindi niya ako sinasagot. Matagal na eh,” she said. She added that she even hoped to invite Aljur to appear on her YouTube channel, but her attempts were unsuccessful. “Gusto ko siyang i-guest sa YouTube channel ko, pero wala. Hindi niya ako pinapansin,” she continued.
Kris also revealed that she sought help from Aljur’s brother, Vin, in an attempt to reach him, but this likewise did not lead to any response. While she is unsure of the exact reason behind Aljur’s silence, she believes it may be connected to a prank she pulled on him during the pandemic. “Sa tingin ko lang, alam mo naman si Aljur, medyo sensitive, baka dahil sa nagkaroon ako ng YouTube prank — matagal na ‘to, pandemic pa ‘to — na niloko ko siya na buntis ako. Ang haba ng sinabi niya. Halos umabot kami nang isang oras, and sabi ko it’s a prank. Feel ko naano siya d’un,” she recalled.
She clarified that Aljur’s advice during that time was sincere, noting, “Dalaga pa ako n’un. Very genuine ang advice niya n’un [pero] after that, hindi ko na siya nakakausap. Sorry, Aljur. Matagal na ‘yun pero hindi ka namin ipa-prank.”
Despite the lack of communication, Kris emphasized that she has no intention of interfering in Aljur’s personal life. Her only wish is to collaborate with him again professionally. “Hindi ko naman siya pinapaki-alaman sa personal life niya. Gusto ko lang naman mag-collaborate [kami] sa YouTube channel ko. Sana pansinin niya ko. Ewan ko what happened pero he started unfollowing me… Gusto ko ulit siya makatrabaho,” she said.
Meanwhile, “House of Lies” marks Kris Bernal’s return as a lead actress after focusing on her marriage and family. She shared that signing with Sparkle GMA boosted her confidence to resume acting. “Mas nagkaroon ako ng confidence bumalik noong nag-sign ako sa Sparkle last year. Pero nanggaling naman talaga akong GMA Artist Center. One year lang sinign ko kasi pwede bang i-try muna kung pwede kong ipagsabay ang [acting and pagiging mom] kasi very focused and hands on sa taping ko,” she explained.
Kris and Aljur rose to fame as the AlKris love team, captivating audiences in hit projects such as “The Last Prince” and “All My Life.”
