According to the news report, LTFRB Board Member Aileen Lizada expressed that the move could be implemented after the publication of the order which is now with the LTFRB Chairman.

Lizada also made it clear that the order does not fall to the administrative policy thus it can take effect immediately without the 15-day-period after its publication. The LTFRB board member said that the order is under the quasi-judicial functions.

Meanwhile, according to the report, the LTFRB Chairman emphasized that the fare for the next kilometers would still be at P1.50 per kilometer. The current minimum fare for the jeepneys is at P7. Once the order would be implemented, the minimum fare would be at P8.

Based on the report, the following were the ones who filed the petitions for fare increase: Pasang Masda, Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (FEJODAP), Land Transportation Organization of the Philippines (LTOP), Jeepney transport groups Alliance of Concerned Transport Organization (ACTO), and Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (ALTODAP).
