Former Sen. Bong Revilla Claims Flood Control Accusation against him “Unbelievable”
BONG REVILLA – The former Senator asked for prayers for him and his family after the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) recommended the filing of flood control charges against him.
The Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI led the flood control investigation in the Philippines. The investigative body with former Justice Andres Reyes Jr. as its chairman was formed upon the order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
The members of the independent commission include Rossana Fajardo and former Department of Public Works and Highways chief Rogelio Singson. However, ICI member Rogelio Singson recently resigned citing the stressful work.
The ICI has already conducted several closed-door hearings that invited some government officials tagged in the flood control mess. One of them is former House Speaker Martin Romualdez who vowed to help in any way he can to speed up the resolution of the case.
Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez resigned from the speakership of the lower chamber amid the flood control allegations against him. According to him, he wants the ICI to be able to fully and freely implement its mandate to investigate. The three-member body has recommended the filing of charges against some individuals including senators and former senators.
The ICI recommended the filing of flood control charges against former Sen. Bong Revilla. The commission suggested the filing of case against the following individuals in its recent endorsements:
- Ramon Revilla Jr.
- Maynard Ngu
- Carleen Villa
- Gerard Opulencia
- Manny Bulusan
- Roel Umali
- Gene Ryan Altea
- J.Y. Dela Rosa
- “Mrs. Patron”
- Carlo Aguilar
Recently, after the ICI recommended the filing of flood control charges against him, former Sen. Bong Revilla asked for prayers for him and his family through a post on social media. In another post, he claimed that the supposed narrative against him is allegedly not only a lie but unbelievable.
According to the Senator, he is allegedly an easy target to supposedly shift the truth. The Senator stressed that he faces the issues against him and he will not run away nor hide. In his post, he stressed his belief that those who are truly guilty in the issue will face conviction.
Amid the flood control investigation, Malacañang recently revealed the budget for the ICI this 2025.
