PAGASA Says LPA to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a low-pressure area will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Friday (August 22, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area and habagat will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area is being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility with a chance of into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. The LPA was spotted at 150 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora.

“If the LPA develops into a Tropical Depression, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No.1 may be hoisted immediately over some localities in Central and Northern Luzon due to its close proximity to the landmass,” PAGASA said.

The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.

“Posible po yan mamayang gabi or bukas ng madaling araw. And tumataas na din po yung chansa nito na ma-develop at maging isang ganap na bagyo within 24 hours. So most likely, na-expect po natin kapag itong LPA na ito ay nandito na sa area ng West Philippine Sea, ay mabilis po yung magiging development nito into a tropical depression,” the agency added.

The southwest monsoon will bring similar weather condition over the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Occidental.

Habagat will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over rest of Visayas and Mindanao.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected area to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition across the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA
