The grandson and daughter of Gloria Romero have this to share with the public about the late Queen of Philippine Cinema.
Queen of Philippine Cinema Gloria Romero died at the age of 91 and the entertainment industry is grieving over a big loss. Romero died on January 25, 2025, and a lot of hearts were broken upon learning this.
According to her daughter Maritess, Romero’s wake will be held at Arlington Memorial Chapel, Hall A, on Araneta Avenue, Quezon City. A public viewing was also scheduled. The late actress’ fans and supporters can pay their respects on Monday and Tuesday between 9 AM and 1 PM.
In a previous article, Joey Reyes recalled working with Romero and according to him, the industry doesn’t make stars like her anymore. She has left a body of work but what made her outstanding among others was her humility and concern for the people.
Recently, Romero’s daughter and grandson spoke about her on Monday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda”. Maritess and Chris expressed their statements about the late actress and the grandson recalled the final moment he had with his grandmother.
“She said, ‘Chris matanda na ‘ko, wala na kong mabibigay sa ‘yo, nabigay ko na sa ‘yo lahat’ and then I was telling her, ‘Lola andami mo na nabigay sa amin, it’s okay, you already gave us so much. Thank you for everything,'” he shared.
According to him, up until the end, Romero still wanted to give as this is the person she has always been. For him, this was one of the reasons why she was loved by everybody.
For Romero’s daughter, she believed that it was all a part of God’s plan to be the Queen of Philippine Cinema’s daughter. It was their destiny to have her in their lives. She is thankful to the supporters of her mother which spans from the older generation to the younger generation.
She also echoed Chris’ statements. Her mother was able to give so much of herself.
Meanwhile, according to the designated family spokesperson Butch Francisco, even before Romero turned 91 last December 2024, she was already in and out of the hospital. Her health has accordingly deteriorated greatly in the previous year.
On New Year’s Eve, she was rushed to the hospital after refusing to eat. She was also suffering from pain. Romero spent three weeks in the hospital.
