Lady Netizen Expresses Frustration at Jeepney Passengers Neglecting to Pay the Exact Amount in the Morning
A lady netizen shared her reaction to jeepney passengers who seemed unaware of the phrase “Barya lang sa umaga.”
Early mornings can be a quiet and peaceful time, but for jeepney drivers, it’s the start of a busy day filled with challenges. One of these challenges? Passengers who don’t bring exact fare, especially during the first few trips when change is short.
Recently, the Facebook page “English Notes with Angie” shared her frustration regarding a scene she witnessed. The post quickly circulated online and garnered various reactions from the internet users.

Angie shared that It was just past 6:00 AM, and the jeepney was nearly empty, with only a few passengers onboard. As people started paying their fares, one passenger handed the driver a P100 bill.
The driver, trying his best, searched through his coins to provide the right change, leaving him with just a few pesos. Before long, another passenger gave him yet another P100. This time, the driver had no choice but to return it, apologizing that he couldn’t provide change.
For someone who relies on exact fare to keep their work running smoothly, situations like this can be frustrating.

The phrase “Barya lang sa umaga” exists for a reason. Drivers prepare their coins carefully at the start of the day, but their supply isn’t endless. Bringing exact fare might seem like a small act, but it makes a big difference for these hardworking individuals.
This act is not just about convenience but it’s about showing respect and understanding. Something as simple as preparing coins or smaller bills shows that we care about the effort these drivers put into their work.
