It was the first time of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to attend a House Quad Comm hearing. In the previous hearings, he skipped the inquiry for different reasons. Duterte has even claimed that getting to Metro Manila will be costly for him.

According to the former President, he is only living within his retirement pay. Meanwhile, unexpectedly, he appeared in the latest hearing set by the House Quad Comm. Former senators Leila de Lima and Antonio Trillanes IV who are staunch critics of the war on drugs were also invited to the hearing.

At the House hearing, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte was caught making gestures seemingly wanting to hit De Lima and Trillanes. Former Sen. Leila de Lima said he was lying when he claimed that he does not know her while former Sen. Trillanes questioned his bank transactions. He dared him to sign a waiver for the checking of his bank account.

Duterte was seemingly trying to poke fun when he claimed that he was not able to recognize De Lima as her hairdo and her hair color changed. She recalled that he even shook hands with her during the 2016 State of the Nation Address (SONA) of the former President.

At the House Quad Comm hearing, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte said he will take full legal and moral responsibility of the deaths during the Duterte war on drugs campaign. Previously, at the Senate hearing, the former Chief Executive also claimed that he ordered the cops to encourage the criminals to fight back.

Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos spoke on the remarks of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Initially, the Chief Executive stayed mum after the Senate hearing admissions of the former President.

“It will be assessed to see what is consequence of some of the statements made by former President Duterte that will result in a case being filed here. That is the responsibility of the Department of Justice,” Marcos Jr. said.

At the House hearing, former Pres. Duterte invited the ICC (International Criminal Court) to come to the Philippines and investigate him. According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the government will not stop the ICC from coming here but will also not help in the investigation.

Based on the report, Marcos Jr. further stressed that it is up to Duterte if he wants to talk to the ICC or be investigated. According to him, the decision is no longer within the hands of the government.
