Julie Anne San Jose showcased her musicality once again
Asia’s Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose talked about her third self-produced single, Saglit Lang.
Julie Anne’s career in the entertainment industry began early. She first appeared on television at just three years old as a finalist on Eat Bulaga!’s Little Miss Philippines. In 2005, at the age of 11, she competed in the reality singing show Popstar Kids.
Though she did not win the grand prize, she was included in the singing group Sugarpop, and from that, her career blossomed. Over the years, she showcased her talent in acting and singing.
During her recent media conference, based on the article in GMA Entertainment, Julie Anne San Jose performed her new song live. She also shared the story behind how it was created.
The singer-actress shared that it all started when she noticed some of her old songs seemingly resurfaced online.
“Bumabalik talaga, nag-re-resurgence ‘yung mga luma kong kanta. Na-realize ko na ang dami kong mga kanta pero never nagkaroon ng chance na kantahin ko ‘yung mga songs na ‘yon,” Julie Anne said.
Because of this, the actress-singer was prompted to look back on creations in the past, while she was also exploring new ideas for her music.
Julie Anne also revealed that her longtime boyfriend was the inspiration behind Saglit Lang. “Nagkasakit ako, naisip kong sumulat ng kanta habang nasa kama, ta’s iniisip ko si Ray,” the singer-actress revealed.
What started as a deeply personal moment transformed into a track that allowed Julie to pivot her musical style.
Speaking exclusively with ATM Live, she discussed her desire to venture into a new musical style while ensuring her sound still mirrors her personal and artistic evolution over the years.
“Sabi ko medyo gusto ko ng jazzy approach, so ito naman medyo bossa…” she says, emphasizing that her writing style has also shifted toward a more mature sound. “We all grow up. So I guess it’s a more grown-up approach when it comes to writing songs and writing my music,” Julie Anne San Jose.
