Coldplay’s Latest Track ‘Jupiter’ Showcases Powerful Filipino Fan Chants from Manila Performance
COLDPLAY – British pop-rock band Coldplay’s latest track, “Jupiter,” highlights the powerful chants of Filipino fans from their Manila performance.
Coldplay made a memorable connection with their Filipino fans during their recent stop in the Philippines for their “Music of the Spheres” tour. The band performed at the iconic Philippine Arena last January, marking their return to the country after a seven-year hiatus.
What made this concert special was the involvement of the Filipino audience in the creation of one of the songs on Coldplay’s latest album, Moon Music.
As the show neared its end, lead vocalist Chris Martin asked the crowd for their help in recording a chant for an upcoming song. Thousands of Filipino fans enthusiastically chanted the words “love who you love” at Martin’s request.
These chants were later used to form the chorus of “Jupiter,” a song from Moon Music. The track is about a woman named Jupiter, who embarks on a journey of self-acceptance and learns to love freely, embracing who she truly is.
The recording of the chant during the Philippine concert was immortalized not just in the song, but also through a video shared by Warner Music Philippines, showing the unforgettable moment when Chris Martin rallied the Filipino crowd. The video serves as a reminder of how fans in the Philippines played a unique role in shaping Coldplay’s new music, a testament to the band’s connection with their audience.
In addition to the release of Moon Music, Coldplay’s Chris Martin recently announced that the band would produce two more albums before officially retiring. “Less is more and, for some of our critics, even less would be even more! It’s really important that we have that limit,” Martin said. “To make an album great as a band, it’s such a lot of wrangling of people, and I want to give the others some of their life for themselves.”
For now, Coldplay continues to create music that resonates worldwide, with Filipino fans proudly contributing to their legacy.
