Vic Sotto To Enter Politics? This Is His Statement

This is the statement of Vic Sotto after being encouraged to join politics.

Veteran Kapuso host-actor Vic Sotto shares why he doesn’t have any plans on joining politics despite being urged and encouraged.

The celebrities who aspire to enter politics come in no shortage. Several have filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) already before the official venues set by the Commission On Elections (COMELEC). However, it seems like people have not seen enough as there is still a handful that people expect to. There’s just a thin line between politics and show business.

One of them is Kapuso veteran actor-host Vic Sotto. He is being urged by many to win. He has this influence and power massive enough to reach lots of people which raises the margin of his victory in case he decides to run.

However, despite the encouragement he received, Sotto expresses no interest in doing so.

He might be playing as the country’s top leader in his upcoming 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival official entry “The Kingdom”, but when it comes to the real thing, he is leaving it to his brother former Senate President Tito Sotto, and his son, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, with both of them seeking re-election in the upcoming midterm polls.

Speaking about his brother, he said, “He’s more comfortable. He’s more… ano siya, mas may karapatan kumbaga, ako pang comedy lang ako. I leave that to my son, Vico.”

He’d rather be in the industry where he is currently at, as it also allows him to help the people “in his own little way”. He gets to serve the public through his show “Eat Bulaga” which does not require him to be a public servant.

“You don’t have to be in politics to be of public service,” he stressed. Being in the entertainment industry allows him to provide a little help to the viewers, entertainment, and laughter, which for him, are forms of public service.
