Couple Breaks Up and Gets Engaged to Others “Sobrang tagal matapos ng MRT di na sila nagkatuluyan”
A couple has already broken up and one is now engaged to someone else, but the MRT-7 is still not finished.
Recently, Haryet Sebastian, a Facebook user, shared a story comparing a couple’s breakup to the long-delayed completion of the MRT-7 project. The post quickly circulated online and elicited reactions from the online community.
The story shows how the relationship had already ended, and the man was now engaged to someone else, but the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) was still unfinished.
The MRT-7 is a 22-kilometer rail line with 14 stations that will connect Quezon City, Caloocan City, and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. The stations include Quezon North Avenue Joint Station, Quezon Memorial Circle, University Avenue, Tandang Sora, Don Antonio, and more. Once completed, the line promises to reduce travel time for commuters in these areas.
In the post, screenshots of a conversation from 2016 were shared. One message from the man promised his girlfriend that their meetings would be quicker once the MRT-7 was done. He excitedly mentioned that it would only take “one MRT ride” to reach her.
The girlfriend jokingly responded that it would take “3 to 4 years” before the project was finished. Fast forward to the present, the man is now engaged, but to a different woman, while the MRT-7 remains under construction.
According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), partial operations of the MRT-7 are expected by the end of 2025, with full operations by 2027. Once fully operational, the travel time from Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan will be reduced to just 35 minutes, accommodating up to 300,000 passengers daily in its first year.
