PAGASA Says Habagat to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that habagat will prevail over most parts of the country.

On Monday (August 26, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rains over Visayas, Mindanao, and parts of Luzon. “Marami ang kaulapan sa Visayas at Mindanao,” said Badrina.

Habagat will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Quezon, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The southwest monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Calabarzon and Mindanao.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather condition over the rest of Luzon.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Shanshan was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It was last located at 1,490 km east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.

Shanshan has maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph. It is currently heading towards Japan and has no chance of entering the country’s vicinity.

“Wala nang tyansa na pumasok ito sa Philippine Area of Responsibility, at ito ay patungo na sa bahagi ng Japan, Sa ngayon, medyo maliit ang tyansa na ito ay mag-super typhoon,” Badrina added.

The coastal water condition throughout the country will be slight to moderate. No gale warning was raised in any seaboards of the country, according to PAGASA.
