PAGASA Says Shear Line and Easterlies to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that fair and humid weather will prevail across the country.
On Thursday (May 16, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The shear line and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio reported that the shear line will be affecting extreme Northern Luzon as the easterlies continue to affect the rest of the country.
The shear line will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
“Inaasahan po natin ngayong araw, sa Cagayan Valley, sa Batanes, at Isabela ay makakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan na may kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at thunderstorm dahil po ‘yan sa shear line,” Aurelio said.
The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country from afternoon or evening. Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas during severe thunderstorms.
PAGASA said that no weather disturbances are expected to enter or form inside and outside the Philippine area of responsibility within the week.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
