Most experts agree that earthquakes can hardly be predicted with 100% accuracy. Thus, what most nations do instead is to push on the side of preparing for the natural calamity to reduce the possible impact.
In Japan being one of the tectonically-active countries, the country observes strict building standards to boost the chances that their structures can withstand even strong quakes. In 2011, an undersea shaking with a magnitude of 9.0 rocked Japan’s northeast coast.
The recent Japan earthquake came a day after Taiwan was jolted by a 7.4 magnitude quake. It left damages in structures in Taiwan and at least nine (9) people were left dead and over 1,000 individuals were left injured.
