PAGASA Says LPA to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a low-pressure area may leave the Philippine area of responsibility today.

On Wednesday (December 20, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The low-pressure area will continue to affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that the LPA was last spotted 185 km south of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. The weather disturbance is expected to leave the country’s vicinity on Wednesday afternoon or evening.

β€œHuling namataan itong low-pressure area na ating minomonitor sa layong 185 km south ng Puerto Princesa City sa Palawan, inaasahan nating magdadala ito ng mga pag-ulan sa malaking bahagi ng ating bansa,” Weather Specialist Daniel James E. Villamil said.

The LPA will bring scattered rains over the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Western Visayas, and MIMAROPA, especially Palawan.

The shear line will also bring scattered rains in Aurora, CALABARZON, and the Bicol Region.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy weather conditions with rains over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have generally fair weather with possible light rains due to the northeast monsoon. Warm and humid with possible isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms are expected over the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.

β€œAt para naman sa magiging lagay ng panahon natin ngayong araw dito sa Luzon, inaasahan pa rin natin itong maulan bahagi sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon, scattered rains ang ating inaasahan sa buong southern Luzon,” he added.

The weather agency has warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms, according to PAGASA.

Amihan may cause big waves over the seaboards of Batanes and the northern coasts of Ilocos Norte and Cagayan including Babuyan Islands.
