Senator Risa Hontiveros will push these bills in the 20th Congress.
Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros promised to file the divorce bill again and others in the 20th Congress.
During the Kapihan sa Senado, Senator Risa Hontiveros shared that the proposed Dissolution of Marriage bill has already been debated on the floor twice. She committed to refiling it in the 20th Congress.

She believes it is a “moral failing” with an absence of a law that permits the dissolution of marriage, and this is significant, especially to women and children, who are vulnerable in dysfunctional marriages. She has long underscored that a system which “heals and gives second chances” is better than a “system that is blind to the suffering of citizens in abusive relationships.”
Hontiveros also hopes to have the Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC) Bill and the Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Bill passed into law.
In the 19th Congress, the SOGIESC bill is her top priority, while the teenage pregnancy, for her, remained a national emergency and a social emergency. What happened, however, was that comprehensive sexuality education became subjected to fake news.
Meanwhile, in a previous article, Hontiveros is open to running in 2028 for the presidency. She is open to all possibilities, and this is what she has been telling her fellow members in the opposition or the independent bloc.
As for her, a definite answer will “naturally come somewhere down the road.” With Pangilinan and Aquino with her in the next Congress, they will accordingly serve as a “center of gravity that will serve as a check and balance” and fiscalizers.
She is also certain that a progressive or reformist candidate will eventually go against the one who would be endorsed by former President Rodrigo Duterte’s bloc or President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s team.
