Miss Universe 2023 contestants Michelle Dee and Anntonia Porsild are close and here’s the latter’s parting gift to the former.
Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee and Miss Thailand Anntonia Porsild have built a close bond while they were in the pageant. They may not have taken home the Miss Universe 2023 crown for their respective countries, but they were able to gain a friend in each other.
Pageant watchers were fond of their closeness which made them have the nickname #PorDee or #PorDeeUniverse, a portmanteau of their surnames. They also began referring to one another as “Daddy” and “Mommy”.
They share similarities like representing their countries in different pageants prior to Miss Universe 2023. Dee had a Top 12 finish in Miss World 2019 while Porsild was crowned Miss Supranational 2019.
Meanwhile, this year’s winner is Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios, the first for her home country.
As they come back to their normal lives after the pageant, a parting gift is given to Dee from Pornild. It was a piece of jewelry that the Thailand representative wore during the international pageant.
Anntonia shared a moment where Dee is flaunting the gift she gave her. With their closeness, Michelle invited her to visit the Philippines and recommended Palawan to her.
Previously, El Salvador’s Miss Universe page earned the ire of netizens after it posted and deleted a post that showed the Top 5 finalists of the pageant. In the deleted version, Australia’s Moraya Wilson, Puerto Rico’s Karla Guilfú, Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios, Philippines’ Michelle Dee, and Colombia’s Camila Avella were on the Top 5 finalists but this did not come out in the official announcement.
Fans alleged that the competition was rigged. The page finally addressed the mistake on Thursday and apologized.
