Drunk Police Officer Faces Multiple Charges After He Went on Rampage in Las Piñas
LAS PIÑAS CITY – A drunk police officer is facing multiple charges after he went on a rampage firing his weapon, and threatening civilians on the streets.
The suspect was identified as Police Corporal Brannard Castañeda who is now facing numerous charges due to his reckless actions. The incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.
In the video, Castañeda seemingly struggled to maintain his balance as he brandished a firearm. He repeatedly aimed the gun and even struck an unidentified object, which was out of the camera’s view.
After a few moments, multiple gunshots were heard. According to local residents, such reckless behavior was not uncommon when Castañeda was under the influence. After the gunfire, the cop left the area and encountered Diomedes Leyte, who had just returned home. Castañeda allegedly pointed his gun at Diomede’s head.
“Bigla niya ko tinutukan ng baril dito po sa ulo, tapos sabi niya ‘Ikaw ba yun?’ Sabi ko ‘Ay di po ako, sir. Kararating ko lang po,’” Leyte said.
Leyte admitted that he did not know Castañeda personally. However, when he attempted to enter his home, Castañeda reportedly followed him and attempted to draw his weapon but Leyte managed to disarm Castañeda.
He explained that he acted out of fear for his life, realizing that he had to take action to prevent possible harm.
According to Santos, at around 2:30 AM, the police received reports from concerned citizens about gunshots in the area. Within an hour, the incident unfolded in Rebecca Compound, leading to Castañeda’s arrest.

The officer has since been subjected to ballistic and paraffin tests and now faces charges of Illegal Discharge of Firearms, Grave Threat, and administrative misconduct.
