Palace Says Bongbong Marcos Not Involved in Sara-Imee “Deal” to Bring Duterte Home

Statement of Palace after VP Sara Duterte Tells Sen. Imee Marcos to Bring FPRRD Back to PH

The Palace asserted that President Bongbong Marcos is not involved in the “deal” between Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Senator Imee Marcos to bring former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte home to the Philippines.

The Filipino populace witnessed the strong ties between Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos amid the arrest and the transfer of custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte causing political turmoil in the government. The Presidential Sister visibly took the side of the Duterte family.

Sen. Imee Marcos even left the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago which was endorsed by her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, following Duterte’s arrest. According to her, she cannot accept what was done to Duterte and the actions of the government do not match her ideals and principles in life. Amid the criticisms, Malacañang defended Marcos Jr. saying the government only did its job.

The Presidential Sister also opened a Senate investigation in the arrest of the former President. She asked the Ombudsman to probe five (5) key officials in the arrest of Duterte and the transfer of his custody to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

Sen. Imee Marcos was even the one who cited that the plane that carried Duterte to The Hague was the same plane used by PBBM in his trip to Ilocos Norte. Since she left the senatorial slate of the grand alliance, Pres. Bongbong Marcos has officially stopped mentioning his sister in the campaign sorties.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte campaigned for the reelection of Sen. Imee Marcos. In one of the campaign sorties, the Vice President told the Senator that they will bring her back to the Senate while she has to bring back former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to the country.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte reiterated that Sen. Imee Marcos must be the one to bring former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte back to the country saying it was her brother who sent her to The Hague. Recently, Malacañang reacted to the “deal” between the two (2) government officials.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro

Based on a report on GMA News, Malacañang Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro stressed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is not involved in the alleged “deal” between his sister, Sen. Imee Marcos, and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. She called the two (2) officials as a user and a person who is willing to be used.

“Ang Pangulo ay walang partisipasyon sa kanilang naging kasunduan. The President is not privy to the contract or agreement between a user and a person willing to be used,” the Malacañang official said.

According to Atty. Claire Castro, Pres. Bongbong Marcos only wants to focus in doing his job as the president of the country. The Malacañang Officer also cited another problem which is the power crisis in Siquijor province.

Castro stressed that if only the Vice President has talked to her friend, the problem might have already been solved. Based on the report, the Siquijor Island Power Cooperative (SIPCOR) is owned by the Villar Group of Companies.

“Kung ang Bise Presidente lamang sana ay nakipag-usap sa kanyang kaibigan, baka hindi pa dumaan at dumating sa krisis na ito sa Siquijor,” she said.

Malacañang also reacted to the claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that more PDP bets should have won the 2025 Elections. During the campaign period, the Vice President called on the people not to vote for the senatorial bets of Pres. Bongbong Marcos amid her endorsement of her own senatorial slate.
