66-Year-Old Woman Dies After Drowning in Floodwaters

A 66-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being submerged in floodwaters that inundated her backyard.

The incident takes place in Barangay Baybay, Pangasinan, and serves as an important reminder of the dangers posed by heavy rainfall and flooding.

According to local law enforcement, the elderly woman had ventured out to fetch water from a well located in her yard. Unfortunately, as she attempted to collect water, she slipped and fell into the floodwaters, which reached a depth of up to her knees.

After the incident, the woman appeared to have sustained an injury to one of her legs, possibly hindering her ability to stand or rise from the water. No other individuals were present in the vicinity at the time it occurred.

“Suffering ng fracture sa right foot, papilay-pilay kaya doon siya,” Binmalet Police Station deputy chief PCPT. Brenda Maure said.

The incident points out the importance of safety measures during times of heavy rainfall and flooding. Such situations can be dangerous, particularly for the elderly and those living in flood-prone areas.
