Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, September 6, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.4 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, September 6, 2023.

Following the 4.4 magnitude earthquake in Davao Occidental earlier today, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. The quake hit Occidental Mindoro. According to the agency, it has a magnitude of 4.8.

The earthquake today that struck Occidental Mindoro, Wednesday, September 6, 2023, was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Santa Cruz.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Occidental Mindoro was located at 13.12°North, 120.79°East – 009 km North 62° East of Santa Cruz. It had a depth of focus of 030 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. The following intensities were recorded in these areas:

Intensity I

  • Batangas City, Batangas
  • Tagaytay City, Cavite
  • Boac, Marinduque
  • San Jose, Abra De Ilog, and Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro

Intensity II

  • Abucay, Bataan
  • Ternate, Cavite

Intensity III

  • Calapan City and Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro
