NATIONAL ID – Here are the process and the documents needed in getting this type of government-issued ID in the Philippines.
Among the most important documents that a person can hold and keep are valid IDs. These are common requirements in applying for a loan, getting a Philippine passport, booking a flight, availing benefit offers, subscribing to an internet service, buying a house, getting a car, etc.
When it comes to a valid ID, it could either be primary or secondary. Most of the primary IDs are issued by the biggest government agencies in the country. The secondary IDs include employment IDs which are issued by private companies.
One of the wise move is to secure that you always have a valid ID. Most IDs require annual renewal. If you want an ID with no expiration, you may turn to the PhilSys ID or more popularly called the National ID.
The PhilSys ID is issued by the national government. There are several Philippine Identification System Registration Center across the nation where people can submit their information.
Not only the Filipinos but as well resident aliens in the Philippines may get the National ID. However, in the case of the latter, it comes with an annual expiration. To apply for the ID, you need to prepare the following primary documents and bring along some secondary documents (option):
Primary Documents (any of the following):
- PSA Birth Certificate and one (1) government-issued identification document which bears a full name, front-facing photograph, and signature or thumb mark
- Student’s License Permit or Non- Professional/Professional Driver’s License issued by the LTO
- Philippine Passport or ePassport issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)
- Unified Multi-purpose ldentification (UMID) Card issued by the Government Service lnsurance System (GSIS) or Social Security Systen (SSS)
Secondary/Supporting Documents:
- PSA Birth Certificate or National Statistics Office (NSO)-issued Certificate of Live Blrth with Birth Reference Number (BreN)
- Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO)-issued Certificate of Live Birth
- PSA-issued Report of Birth
- Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Identification Card
- PSA-issued Certificate of Foundling
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ID
- Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) ID
- Social Security System (SSS) lD
- Seaman’s Book (Seafarer’s Record Book)
- Voter’s lD issued by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC)
- Taxpayer ldentification Number (TlN) Ld
- Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) ID
- National Bureau of lnvestigation (NBl) Clearance
- Senior Citizen’s lD issued by the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) and/or LocalGovernment Units (LGU)
- Solo Parent’s ID
- Police Clearance or ID
- Person with Disability (PWD) lD
- National ID from other countries
- Professional ldentification Card issued by the Maritime lndustry Authority (MARINA)
- Postal lD issued by the Philippine Postal Corporation (PhlPost)
- Eligibility Card issued by the Civil Service Commission
- Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV) issued by the Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA)
- Residence ID from other countries
- Dependent’s lD lssued by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP)
Visit a PhilSys registration center in your area and submit your requirements. You will be doing fingerprint scanning and several other biometric-taking phases for the National ID application.
