Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Oriental, August 22, 2023
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.0 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental today, August 22, 2023.
Following the 4.3 magnitude earthquake in Davao Occidental yesterday, another significant quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in its neighboring province. The quake hit Davao Oriental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.0.
The earthquake today that struck Davao Oriental, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 06:02 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Baganga in Davao Oriental.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Oriental was located at 07.66°North, 126.65°East – 014 km North 47° East of Baganga. It had a depth of focus of 026 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. As of this writing, no instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
