Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Sultan Kudarat, Today, August 14, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.2 magnitude quake in Sultan Kudarat today, August 14, 2023.

Following the 4.1 magnitude earthquake that jolted Davao Occidental last week, another significant quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in the province. The quake hit Sultan Kudarat. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.2.

The earthquake today that struck Sultan Kudarat, Monday, August 14, 2023, at 03:05 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Palimbang in Sultan Kudarat.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Sultan Kudarat was located at 04.91°North, 123.64°East – 156 km South 23° West of Palimbang. It had a depth of focus of 520 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas.
