NCRPO Chief Orders Manhunt for 5 Policemen Involved in Robbery at Computer Shop
Five policemen have been charged over an extortion-related robbery at a computer shop in Sampaloc, Manila.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief, PBGeneral Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr, has ordered an investigation and manhunt for five policemen from Manila allegedly involved in the illegal activity.
During the flag raising ceremony at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig, the general announced that aside from the five policemen, two more individuals from the ranks of NCRPO will also face consequences.
One NCR policeman was allegedly involved in a skirmish in Las Piñas, while another off-duty officer faces a robbery complaint in Dagupan.
“Nabawasan po ng pito, but we will not stop cleansing our ranks kasi po yan ang nagpapa pangit ng imahe ng philippine national police. And of course we are trying to, yung magandang serbisyo sa ating community,” stated Nartatez.
The general expressed his bewilderment as to why these seven individuals engaged in such wrongdoing, despite receiving sufficient salaries. He highlighted that the gross pay of a patrolman today is approximately P38,000.
Due to these incidents, Nartatez has suspended the salaries and benefits of the involved policemen and filed charges against them.
“Make sure to get the report and cut pay and allowances na ngayon. Nagbigay na ako ng instruction perhaps nagawa na ngayon. R1 and R7, ensure that administrative charges, kailangan papunta na sa atin,” he added.
The search for the five policemen from Manila, who are accused of extortion and robbery, is ongoing. The NCRPO continues to coordinate with the Regional Internal Affairs Service to expedite the case proceedings.
“Nandito ang ating RIAS, RIAS sir help us, kung masyado kayong maraming load our investigators will on R7 and R1, bigay niyo na sa amin para mabilis,” Nartatez appealed.
