PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Friday (July 14, 2023)

DODONG PH – PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Dodong, previously a low-pressure area (LPA), has intensified and is affecting several regions in the Philippines.

On Friday (July 14, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 in 16 areas, strong winds between 39 and 61 kilometers per hour (kph) may pose minor threats to life and property.

Dodong made landfall in Dinapigue, Isabela, and is currently located near San Mariano, Isabela, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of 75 kph.

PAGASA

PAGASA warned of potential flooding and rain-induced landslides in areas under Signal No. 1, including Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and parts of Pangasinan and Aurora.

The combined effects of Dodong and the southwest monsoon will bring monsoon rains over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and the rest of Central Luzon.

The weather agency advised the mariners of small seacraft to take precautionary measures due to  moderate to rough coastal water condition.

PAGASA

The tropical depression is expected to cross the northern Luzon landmass before emerging over the waters west of the Ilocos Region and leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday (July 15) or early Sunday (July 16).

“Although not captured in the track forecast, the tropical depression may initially track northwestward or north northwestward over Cagayan Valley for the next 6 hours before turning more west northwestward or westward and emerging over the waters west of Ilocos Region,” PAGASA said.
